The Neckar River is 367 km long, mainly fl owing through the south-western state of Baden-Württemberg. Rising in the Black Forest at a height of 706 m above sea level, it passes Heidelberg, before discharging into the Rhine at Mannheim (at 95 m above sea level). The Neckar is the 4th largest tributary of the Rhine and the 10th largest river in Germany.
